College Asansol Study Centre (SC 2809) Ph: 0341 2950014 E-mail: ignou2809@gmail.com, Coordinator- Dr. Parimal Ghosh | From the desk of the Coordinator, IGNOU Study Centre The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), established by an Act of Parliament in 1985, has continuously striven to build an inclusive knowledge society through inclusive education. It has tried to increase the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of the country by offering high-quality teaching through the open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode. Today, it serves the educational aspirations of over 3 million students in India and abroad through 21 Schools of Studies. The University offers about 228 certificates, diplomas, degrees and doctoral programmes. The Indira Gandhi National Open University, the NationalResource Centre for Open and Distance Learning, with international recognition and presence, shall provide seamless access to sustainable and learner-centric quality education, skill up-gradation and training to all by using innovative technologies and methodologies and ensuring convergence of existing systems for large-scale human resource development, required for promoting integrated national development and global understanding. The University has made a significant mark in the areas of higher education, community education and continual professional development. The university has been networking with reputed public institutions and private enterprises for enhancing the educational opportunities being offered by it. As a world leader in distance education, it has been conferred with awards of excellence by the Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Canada, several times. The degrees /diplomas/ certificates awarded by the university are at par and also have full recognition from the UGC as well as AICTE. The University offers as many as 78 certificate programmes in different useful disciplines having a minimum course duration of six months (with a maximum of 2 Years). The study centre at our college was established in 1997 and around 2500 learners enrolled every year in different courses of study. It was definitely an opportunity for the regular students of our college to pursue any certificate programmes of their own choice as an add-on programme without devoting any extra time to the same. This may help in building carrier opportunities in future. The following certificate programmes are activated at our college study centre. Students may choose any of the following according to their own choice and convenience. The year 1997 was the birth centenary year of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The Chief Minister of West Bengal made an announcement at a State function that an Open University would be set up soon in the name of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Following this, a State Act (W.B. Act (XIX) of 1997 and recognized by U.G.C.) was passed on 20th August 1997 in favour of opening a University for imparting Distance Education. It is the 14th Open University of the country and the 13th State Open University. The Netaji Subhas Open University started functioning from July 1998 with a Bachelor's Degree Programme (BDP) in Arts & Commerce. B. B. College study centre of NSOU was running since the inception of this University with arts and commerce subjects only, but in 2014 all science subjects(with honours) were introduced. At present, it has eleven honours subjects (Bengali, English, Education, Pol. Science, History, Accountancy, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Geography, Zoology and Botany) in three streams. Several post-graduate courses like Bengali, English, Pol. Science, Social work, Public administration, History, Education, Mathematics, Library Science, English Language Teaching and Commerce are also running satisfactorily. The University has implemented New Choice based credit System(CBCS) pattern for under graduate programmes from the academic year 2021-2022 |

College Distance Education Centre for Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) | Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is a Central University, established by an Act ofParliament in 1998 with pan-India jurisdiction. The headquarters and main campus of MANUU is inGachibowli, Hyderabad. It is spread over 200 acres. MANUU is recognized as a major higher educationservice provider across the remote areas of the country in Urdu Medium through its regular and distancemode programs. MANUU commenced with distance education programs in 1998 and consolidated itsacademic and research programs in 2004.The University has initiated its distance mode programmes from its year of inception. The DDE hasset up 9 Regional Centres (Delhi, Patna, Bangalore, Bhopal, Darbhanga, Srinagar, Kolkatta, Mumbai,Ranchi) and 5 Sub-Regional Centres (Hyderabad, Jammu, Amravati, Lucknow, Nuh) across the country soas to provide academic and administrative support to the students.The B. B. College Distance Education centre of MANUU offers various courses to students, asdescribed below.DIRECTORATE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION Directorate of Distance Education (DDE) started itsfunctioning from 1998, the year of inception of the university with the distance mode BA program. Atpresent, the Directorate offers UGC - Distance Education Bureau (DEB) approved distance modeprograms at various levels viz., three PG (MA in Urdu, English, and History); four UG programs (BA, BS.c -Life Science, B.Sc. -Physical Science and B.Ed); two Diplomas (Diploma in Journalism and MassCommunication, Diploma in Teach English) and Two certificate programs (Proficiency in Englishthrough English and Functional English for Urdu Speakers). The Directorate plans to re-start B.Com. andM.A. (Islamic Studies), and to introduce new programs - MA (Arabic) and MA (Hindi) and few Diplomaprograms from the academic year 2018. The Directorate has set-up network of nine regional centers (atBengaluru, Bhopal, Darbhanga, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Patna, Ranchi, Srinagar) and five Sub-regionalcenters (at Hyderabad, Lucknow, Jammu, Nuh, and Amravati) to provide student support services andmanagement of 158 Learners Support Centers spread across the country. All the programs are of DDE areoffered on the annual system. The University conducts term-end examinations for all above-mentionedprograms offered by DDE every year. The Degrees, Diploma, Certificates awarded by the University are atpar with the certificates of other Central Universities. As of date, there are approximately 40,000students on DDE's rolls. |
